The Course
This covers the side and the top of Ladhope Hill and has a number of Steep inclines. However, once at the top, the fantastic views of the Borders' countryside and hills make one forget the climb. Plateaued greens and drystone dykes add to the challenge.
Best Holes
1st 170yds. This downhill par 3, calls for immediate accuracy off the tee with out of bounds down the left side two bunkers guard the green.
3rd 574yds long, slight dog left Par5, where one's drive must be middle to right of the fairway, serious trouble for those who pull their tee shots.
The Clubhouse
Superb views, of Galashiels and surrounding countryside from the clubhouse. Ladies and gents locker rooms have showers and toilets. The lounge area is roomy with double-sided bar. Meals must be ordered in advance from the secretary on Tel: 01896 755307 (evenings) or 01896 753724 (day)
How to get to the course
From the centre of Galashiels take A7 for Edinburgh. Where the road splits for Hawick and Edinburgh, continue towards Edinburgh for 300 yds. As you reach the Ladhope Inn take right turn sign posted to the Golf Course. Follow markings up the hill to the course.
Playing Arrangements and Dress Restrictions
It is not always necessary to book a tee-time, seniors play at lunchtime on a Friday, but visitors are still welcome. Passport holders should not tee-off after 4pm.
Dress restrictions are minimal - sensible casual. Golf shoes are not allowed in the bar/lounge areas.
