18 holes, 6566 yards, SSS 72
This is a 18 hole championship, links course
Southerness is a relatively young course, designed by MacKenzie Ross, it was opened as recently as 1947.
The merits of the course have been recognised by the R & A, the Scotish Golf Union as they have all held championships here.
The course has been kept in superb condition and the greens are a joy. It is not a course for the fainthearted or for beginers - the heather and gorse at the sides of the generous fairways is bad enough, but when the prevailing south west wind blows it is a true test.
