The course occupies a historic area around the very attractive Kirk Loch. The tee shot to the second hole takes you on to the site of Bruce Castle and when playing the third hole you cannot fail to notice the huge defensive ditch which helped to protect the site. Lochmaben from a scenic point of view is probably one of the most attractive courses in Dumfries & Galloway.
