Built in 1849, by merchant businessman Daniel Walkinshaw, The Rosslea Country House Hotel, today, stands proudly looking out over the Firth of Clyde and the rolling landscapes beyond. Inspired by his many trips to Italy, and to Naples in particular, Daniel commissioned his dream house to be built on the bay of the Rhu - which most resembled the beautiful Bay of Naples.

Caringly restored to its former glories in 1973 as a small luxury hotel, the owners managed to retain the original bell tower and front facade along with some fine internal period features. The Rosslea maintains the warmth and traditional Scottish friendliness of its old days as a home, along with the needs of today's more discerning house guests. The emphasis is most definitely on personal service of the highest standard.
