Waterton Park PLC, Wakefield

Waterton Park is part of yorkshire's heritage. It is steeped in local history. This magnificent 19th century park, nestles quietly amongst gently rolling hills and valleys, and offers acres of mixed mature and long established woodland with a profusion of feature trees, picturesque lakes, and gently flowing streams to further enhance its natural charm and beauty.

The 200 acre course site at Waterton Park must be seen to be appreciated. It is a superb site with many natural advantages.

The mature woodland and the many long established feature trees has ensured a 'mature' feel to the course from its opening in September 1995.

Course Designer, Simon Gidman, of The Golf Course Design Partnership has fully explored these advantages in ensuring the course maximises the possibility of creating established tree - lined fairways and protected greens.

The par 3 'seventh' is a truly magnificent and stunning golf hole and captures all the atmosphere and beauty of the golf course. From an elevated tee the green nestles perilously close to the park's picturesque 26 acre lake.

Another superb golf hole is the 305 yard par 4 13th, where again water plays a decisive factor in determining how the hole is played.

Do you lay up from the 'tee' and leave a potentially hazardous pitch across the lake? Or do you throw caution to the wind and attempt the 220 yards carry with your tee shot, a summary of just two of the many magnificent golf holes at Waterton Park.

Waterton Park is a quiet and secluded place, an ideal place for the peaceful pursuit of the gentle game of golf.
