La Grande Mare Golf Club is part of the complex of La Grande Mare Hotel Golf and Country Club situated on the west coast of Guernsey, adjacent to Vazon Bay the largest and most beautiful of the Island bays.
Although it is by the sea the course is not a links course having been developed on land with a clay and peat base. La Grande Mare is an 18 hole golf course, with four double greens, designed by Fred Hawtree and Sons one of the respected golf courses architects in the world.
Your first impression is of a course, which is short and easy to master. After your first round however, this impression will change. Although beginners and intermediate golfers can enjoy a good round the course still provides a stern test for advanced players. Water plays an important part in the design of the course requiring every shot to be thought out thoroughly before executing.
