The Course
 Orton Meadows Golf Course was opened initially as a 12 hole course laid out on land available within Ferry Meadows Country Park. The course was subsequently extended to a full 18 holes with the additional holes being built on land reclaimed during gravel excavation. The course - a par 67 of 5664 yards designed by Dennis and Roger Fitton - is extremely picturesque, surrounded by trees and having much wildlife including many varieties of birds and waterfowl. As well as interesting scenery Orton Meadows provides its own challenges and rewards with water featuring on no less than 10 holes. The third is a long - some say very long par 5. The second and fifteenth compete to be the shortest with the 15th just winning!
Pitch and Putt
A 12 Hole Pitch and Putt Course is a very popular attraction at Orton Meadows appealing to players of all ages and all levels. It provides fun for those who do not play golf, is an introduction to the game for those who would like to become golfers and provides practice for the more established player.
Orton Meadows Golf Acadmey
The team of PGA professionals - headed by Jason Mitchell offer advice, individual and grop coaching for adults and juniors. Orton Meadows use the programme - Your Passport to Golfing Success - developed by Europro and the Director of Coaching - Denis Pugh. the aim is to introduce newcomers to the game and help them gain skill, confifdence and enjoyment. The coaching is available for players at any level who are wanting to improve particular aspects of their game and keep those scores coming down.!
Golf Club
There is a Golf Club attached to Orton Meadows with membership available which enables players to members of a recognised golf club and obtain and official club handicap which makes it easier to gain access to other golf clubs. The club is affiliated to Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union and plays competitive matches in the various leagues. There are also matches played on a home and away basis with other golf clubs in the area, and the club runs competitions and organises social events for members.
Membership application forms are available in the Golf Shop or can be obtained from the Club Secretary. There is usually no waiting list and there is a very reasonable joining fee and an equally reasonable annual membership. Normal green fee rates apply.
Golf Societies
Orton Meadows welcomes Golf Societies for Golg Days. As Orton Meadows is a popular course we havve many societies who come regularly. There is a leaflet available about the arrangements for advance booking. Play is usually in fours only and starting times are at eight minute intervals. It is not possible to allows Texas Scrambles.
We also welcome Golf societies to our other course at Thorpe Wood.
Catering
Is available at the adjoining Granary - a Beefeater Restaurant and Pub.
A wide selection of food is available throughout the day - ranging from frshly made sandwiches or cobs and filled jacket potatoes to one, two or three course meals. We are told that advanced booking of a table is essential at weekends and is available during the week. Food can be selected and ordered on arrival in the Granary.
