The Course Dissected by River Lane, with 11 holes to the North and 7 to the South, water is in play on most holes. Added to that, the wooded nature of the course is such that it offers a challenge to golfers of all abilities. It is the home of the PGA East Anglian Open where professionals pit their wits against the challenge of this magnificent course. ![]() The lakes and mature woodlands abound with wildlife, and great care has been taken to preserve as many of the natural features as possible. Indeed, the 16th hole has been named "Badger Alley" due to the abundance of the badger sets lining the fairway on all sides. It is here that one of the largest colonies of badgers in Eastern England reside. Muntjac deer inhabit the woodlands. Canada Geese and swans glide the tranquil waters of the lakes, and an abundance of differing species of bird life can be seen around the course. In addition to the natural mature woodland of Brampton Park, 3,500 sapling trees have been planted since the course was constructed in 1991. It is a course that requires the use of every club in the bag. It is a signature hole, the "Infamous 4th" is a par 3 with an island green almost completely surrounded by water. Set to become one of the greatest par 3's in the country, it is sure to stick vividly in the mind of any golfer who plays it. Another demanding hole is the 14th which features several water hazards, amongst which is an old sluice which has been restored. The River Great Ouse forms the natural boundary of part of the course, and Brampton Brook, with its various tributaries, dissects the course adding further interest. With the liberal use of bunkers, it provides a considerable degree of excitement for the keen golfer. Alongside the 18th fairway and just a few steps from the clubhouse is a practice ground and net. It is hoped in the future to provide the added facility of a driving range. The Club The Clubhouse On the second floor there are guest rooms with en suite facilities for members or their guests. Visiting societies from afar may make use of these superb facilities.
